Abbeywood Cheshire // Michael & Clare
Abbeywood in Cheshire is one of my favourite wedding venues and it’s always exciting to re-visit.
Describe your wedding in three words
Relaxed. Joyful. Memorable.
Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning)
We wanted a summer wedding and it to be after any exams ended. (no particular meaning)
Anything about how you met/proposal story
First date was an amateur production of Henry V in Northwich. A classic first date in a way! I proposed in a muddy field just outside the perimiter of Manchester Airport, not the most romantic of times or places (But the walk around the airport is a lot better than it sounds).
Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day
Sweet Peas were the flowers – my father always used to grow them and Clare wanted them in memory of him. The colour scheme followed from that.
Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day
I got far too emotional in my speech. Clare was emotional walking into the Chapel with everyone there. It was the perfect (and only) place for the wedding itself.
On the day Abbeywood fulfilled all expectations. As you know, the grounds are amazing. Everyone who had not been there before commented on the grounds and how magnificent the setting was.
How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day
We dicovered you online, and saw you had done weddings at Abbeywood previously. From your write-up your style sounded in keeping with what we wanted – as in the event it was!
Are you going on honeymoon
We did not plan one originally as we intended to spend time with guests who had come from abroad: My best man and his family from Austria, and Clare’s two brothers from Austraila and the USA. In the event that could not happen, so we managed to book (the day before we went; the last room in the hotel) 3 nights in St Davids in Pembrokeshire. Neither of us had been before and it was somewhere we both wanted to see. It coincided with the heatwave, so coastal walks, lying on the beach, and swimming in the sea made it memorable and perfect. It is good to have somewhere not too distant so can visit again and again.
