Abbeywood Delamere // Sioned & Nathan

Abbeywood delamere is my favourite Cheshire venue – the gardens and glass house are stunning! Sioned & Nathan married at the Church across the road from the venue and then held their reception in Abbeywood gardens.

Describe your wedding in three words

Full of love

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

We wanted a summer a wedding to see all the flowers at Abbeywood in full bloom. We were also hoping for a sunny, warm day but you can never predict the weather in the UK!!

Anything about how you met/proposal story

We met through a mutual friend in Liverpool where I was at university. Nathan used to come for nights out at the weekend so we became friends first as we were both were with other people at the time! A few years later when our mutual friend went travelling to Australia we met at his leaving party and were both single. The rest is history :)) That was nearly 10 years ago now.

We got engaged in November 2019 in Tenerife. Nathan got down on one knee in a quiet corner over looking the sea after we had eaten dinner. We spent the rest of the holiday celebrating which was a lot of fun!

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

I wanted a floral theme for the wedding which was in keeping with Abbeywood’s beautiful gardens. I am also quite girly so liked the idea of pretty pastel colours and botanical style stationary and decorations. My Mum also loves gardening so I knew she would appreciate the theme. I also got quite into gardening myself during the pandemic so had a new appreciation for flowers and plants.

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

There were so many amazing moments during the day. For me the ceremony was so special. I loved how atmospheric the church felt with all the candles and music by Daisy Kate. After over two years of planning (due to having postpone once) it was amazing to finally get married in front of all our family friends. Everything about the ceremony was just perfect, including the readings and walking down the aisle with my Dad. We had also come to know Reverend Angela well over 2 years so it was special to be married by someone who knew us both personally.

The speeches were also another highlight, Nathan’s speech in particular was emotional for me and our guests! He had lots of people in tears as he talked so personally about all the most important people in his life and thanked them for everything they have done for him and us. I know my Dad was in his absolute element doing his speech and it had been weeks in the making. So many guests told me afterwards how much they enjoyed his speech :))

Finally, the first dance was really memorable. We had practiced in our living room a few nights before and I think that really paid off. Neither of us particularly like being centre of attention but it almost felt like it was just us two dancing in the room as we were just so happy and having the best time together.

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

You were on Abbeywood’s recommended list of photographers. I looked at everyone on the list but liked your style the most. The photos didn’t feel too edited in terms of colours, style and shading. Your style captured wedding days in a natural and non-intrusive way.

Wedding song?

Jesse Ware – Champagne Kisses. Jesse Ware is one of our favourite artists and we have seen her live in Manchester which we loved.

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Remember it’s your day so only plan and do things that feel right for you two. Also don’t get carried away with your guest list which is easier said than done! Fewer guest mean the day is more intimate and also easier on the budget!

Are you going on a honeymoon?

We went to Crete in Greece a couple of days after the wedding which was just amazing. We were there for 10 days and stayed in a beautiful hotel. Our room had a sea view which meant we saw absolutely gorgeous sunrises, when we got up for them! We also had a plunge pool on our balcony which felt extra special! We also loved all the Greek food and ate out every night at different restaurants. The weather was also glorious every day so we did lots of chilling out by the pool drinking cocktails and reading books which was just what we needed after a very busy few weeks!

Anything else….

I would also recommend that wedding couples pay the extra for a highlight film. We absolutely loved watching ours back. It was like being able to watch our wedding from an outsiders perspective and being able to see our friends and family enjoying themselves was so nice. When planning the wedding we just wnated to ensure everyone had a good time so watching the film really showed that people enjoyed the day. It’s not possible to be everywhere and with everyone on your wedding day so we really appreciated watching the film and seeing parts of the day we weren’t there for. We have loved showing our friends and family and being able to relive it with them. It will also be great to show our own kids one day!!

REVIEWS

“We booked Jess to be our photographer for our wedding which was originally meant to happen in June 2021 but we then had to postpone to July 2022 due to Covid. Jess was so understanding of this and helped to make moving the date feel less stressful. Before the wedding Jess kept in regular contact with us and helped us prepare for the day with advice and guidance on various elements of the day. She also took the time to get to know us as a couple.
On the day Jess was fantastic. She felt like a friend who we’d known for years. We were constantly laughing with her which was lovely. This made us both feel so relaxed around her which meant we didn’t feel awkward having lots of photos taken as we were both a bit nervous about having lots of photos taken during the day. Jess was almost unnoticeable during the day so captured the day in true documentary style which we loved. We are over the moon with all of our pictures and the highlight film. Jess captured the day perfectly. The parcel we received with our pictures was also a lovely touch!

We would not hesitate to recommend Jess to any future wedding couples.”
