Alice and Jake’s Rustic Humanist Wedding at Nunsmere Hall Cheshire

There are so many reasons why I just love my job,  like getting to photograph epic days, filled up with awesome, like Alice and Jake’s humanist wedding at Nunsmere Hall in Cheshire! It’s not every day you get to witness the wedding of a lord and lady either.

After a search of the internet for a photographer based in Cheshire, they stumbled across me. They wanted natural in-the-moment photos that captured all the little moments and the whole atmosphere, which is my favourite style. I’m so happy they settled on me, it was a brilliant day;

“Everyone commented on how lovely you were and how you fitted into our day so perfectly. We didn’t stop having fun that entire day.

Alice and Jake chose a humanist ceremony for their cheshire wedding. They had the humanist wedding part of the day at 2pm at the venue where they made their own vows and it was just lovely. The celebrant was a guy called Pirate Captain Dan-tastic!! I mean with a name like that, you can tell it’s just going to be brilliant! They then a small official ceremony with just immediate family at 4pm.

Jake and Alice had always wanted an Autumn wedding and when I asked them about their plans for the day Jake said the theme was “ska and tweed” ! Alice wanted the day to reflect them as a couple; “perfectly us two”.

Alice met Jake at uni, just as Jake was about to graduate, they are both vets and just a gorgeous couple. They had a romantic italian proposal with a lovely, lovely story behind the engagement ring.

“We met at the pub, like any good students! Jake proposed in Venice, with a ring that I had seen in an antique jewellers 2 years before. I would send photos of the ring to Jake every time I was drunk! He found it in the jewellers and kept it for 6 months before proposing.

They wanted a rustic feel to their day, just relaxed and enjoyable for everyone;

“We didn’t have any kids there as we wanted everyone to be able to relax and drink… And that definitely happened! Based a lot of things around things we love: music, being outside and photos.

Alice told me the humanist wedding ceremony was a special and also funny moment on the day with Jake loosing track of where he was at;

“Jake having to ask “sorry what?!” mid ceremony. The whole humanist ceremony was just so perfect. We also didn’t say our “I do’s” just our “yups” as someone apparently missed that cue….

As a gift they were also given and lord and lady title! A first for me, photographing near royalty!

The new Lord and Lady took to the dance floor, with Paolo Nutini’s  ‘No Other Way’ as their first dance. Jake and Alice then had an AMAZING band that normally just cover festivals but they came to their wedding – the dance floor was bouncing!

It was a pretty awesome day and I loved capturing it for them. Huge congratulations Jake and Alice, have an amazing time on your travels this year to Cambodia and Vietnam, very jealous!
