Describe your wedding in three words

Amazing, relaxed and fun!

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

Friday the 13th! It may be unlucky for some but 13 is our families lucky number. Also we were married on the 13th at 1300hrs and we have been together for 13 years at that time 🥰

Anything about how you met/proposal story

Myself and Adam met very young at the ages of 17 & 19. We are childhood sweethearts and have grown into adults together and we now have two beautiful children.

We actually met on a car park when out with our friends. Adam casually sent me a Facebook message saying ‘come over here’ haha!! Now look at us!

Adam proposed to me after 8 years together on our most amazing holiday in Dubai on the beach outside the Burj al Arab with our daughter there. He wrote in the sand ‘mummy will you marry my daddy’. It was just perfect!!

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

Our aspiration for our Cheshire wedding day was a relaxed but fun feel. Myself and Adam love to be with our family and friends and wanted a nice chilled day to be able to celebrate with them. We both got ready in the morning of our wedding at home or at parents houses. This felt more special to us as it’s very sentimental and memories we will cherish forever.

We also wanted relaxed comfort food that everyone could enjoy, so we decided to go with a barbecue main with salads & pizzas and ice creams at night.

We also named our tables after places in Dubai as that was where the proposal was, with a picture of Adam on one knee in our venue.

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

Some of our most emotional moments on the day would be when I left Adam’s late grandad Geoff’s hanker chief as a present for him to wear in the morning of our wedding day. Geoff wouldn’t go anywhere without his handkerchiefs. He was a massive part of Adam’s family and although he wasn’t there in person, he was there in spirit and in Adam’s blazer pocket.

Also my dad gave me a silver sixpence for good luck in the wedding car on our way to the church. It was the perfect father and daughter moment. I put it in my shoe and it stayed there all day and night. It’s now in my memory box so hopefully I can hand it down to our daughter one day when she has her wedding day.

Mostly our best memory was finally exchanging our wedding vows. We’ve waited 13 years to finally become ‘The Woodwards’ and our family knot is now finally tied and we couldn’t be happier!

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

We firstly met Jess on my (Rebecca) sisters wedding day. She was photographing there special day and what an amazing job she did. She had the most relaxed, happy and chilled vibe. We clicked straight away. Her pictures were incredible and we knew immediately we wanted to book Jess for our upcoming wedding.

Before then we booked Jess for a family photoshoot when our children were only aged 5 and 1. This was a task in itself with two very independent children haha! But once again Jess completely blown us away capturing pictures we never expected to get. This made us even more excited for our wedding day!

When Jess photographed our wedding day, she was everything we expected her to be. Fun, relaxed, friendly and completely in her zone! She would grab us when there was the ‘perfect setting’ or the ‘perfect time’ to do our pictures. She really wanted us to have the perfect day and was very conscious that she did not to take us away from our guests for too long.

We honestly could not have asked for a better photographer. Jess would blend into the crowd and take natural photographs without us even knowing she was there. Capturing those raw moments. We are so excited to see the rest of our pictures.

We can’t thank Jess enough and we now consider Jess more as a friend than our photographer and we’re already thinking of new events just so we can book her again!

Wedding song?

John Adams – A million dreams (acoustic) – A family song that is very sentimental to us
