Derbeyshire Wedding Photographer // Karen & Martin

Karen and Martin got married outside at Makeney Hall Hotel’s Woodland Gardens this year and all I can say is, it was ace. Their fun relaxed vibe was perfect for my style of documentary, moment capturing photography and I had a whale of a time at Makeney with them for their wedding.

With their chilled ceremony, Pims in mason jars and beautiful lavender inspired decor and bouquet (a nod to Karen’s southern French heritage), the amazing outdoor space at Makeney looked incredible.

The handsome Victorian hall was the perfect place to grab some pictures with the bridal party. The bridesmaids were all in different dresses and it worked so well alongside the overgrown greenery of the beautiful gardens.

Their family and friend orientated finishing touches made the day so special. Bridesmaid Nicole made the wedding cake and Karen and Martin had no idea what it looked like until it turned up on the day!

What a leap of faith!

Luckily it was absolutely gorgeous, and Nicole’s husband had even made the cake topper with his very own 3D printer.

And let’s not forget Martin’s Nan who happily shared her birthday with their special day, Martin and Karen brought out a birthday cupcake and got everyone to sing happy birthday to her.  But the cherry on top was Nan thanking everyone for coming to her birthday party. Priceless!

Their non traditional first dance to the Kooks “she moves in her own way” topped off the evening and everyone was soon on the dance floor with them to dance the night away.

I had a great time with this brilliant bunch of people and I’d love to return to Makeney Hall, it’s one of my favourites and it’s just gorgeous for outdoor ceremonies.

Have the best time honeymooning Martin and Karen!
