Lake District Wedding Photographer // Katie & Phil
Oh I do love a Lake District wedding and was so thrilled to be part of Katie and Phil’s gorgeous celebrations at Broadoaks Country House back in September. The day was a total pleasure to photograph, they are such a lovely couple and the wedding was filled with so much love and very beautiful and poignant moments.
The Lake District is an amazing backdrop for a wedding, and no matter the weather it’s natural beauty just shines through. Broadoaks is a fabulous country house, with a sweeping drive approach, stunning grounds and a really homely but luxurious feel to it. I was smitten and could see exactly why of all the venues in the Lake District, Katie and Phil chose this one for their heartfelt wedding day. It has a real personality and friendliness to it.
Katie and Phil first met as neighbours, fast forward a few years and Phil proposed to a completely surprised Katie on Christmas Day morning 2015. Katie is the manager of a jewellers and unbeknownst to her, she’d actually brought her own engagement ring home in her bag months earlier from work after Phil had enlisted the help of her work colleagues…crafty Phil!
Katie and Phil were looking to create an intimate, romantic and colourful feel to their day and worked with some wonderful suppliers from the Lake District and closer to home in Liverpool to create just that. Katie chose pearls and lace as her inspiration, a consistent theme throughout the day from her dress to the flowers, cake and styling. It was stunning!
They chose me to photograph their day after a LOT of googling apparently!;
“Your style just jumped out at us…relaxed, not forced…just what we were looking for! You looked so lovely and approachable on your web page, I wanted to share my day with someone I could trust and felt comfortable with.
You are absolutely amazing and so talented. I honestly couldn’t imagine sharing my day with anyone else. Your calm presence was just what we both needed and you captured our day perfectly”
I really adore capturing details from each day, that act as a little time capsule from a feeling or moment. One very emotional and truly beautiful moment which was an honour to witness was Katie’s amazing dad’s speech;
“My amazing Dads father of the bride speech is a huge memory of the day. He recorded and videoed it just 7 days before he died and 4 weeks before our wedding…it was such an honour for us…he left us speechless with his song”
Katie told me that one of her favourite moments from the wedding was the walk up from their Lake District lodge to the main house, “Just me and my bridesmaid giddy with excitement..perfect!” It’s those butterflies, nerves, excitement and anticipation all rolled into one that create that perfect joyful combination.
All my love to the happy couple, I really enjoyed being your photographer, sending you love for a wonderful future together. Here are just a few images of Katie and Phil’s brilliant Lake District wedding, enjoy! If you are getting married in the Lake District too and are looking for a photographer, I’d love to hear all about your plans,
love Jess
