Larkspur Lodge // Camilla & Tommy

Larkspur Lodge in Knutsford is a bespoke Cheshire venue boasting oak beams and exposed bricks – a perfect backdrop for your wedding.
Camilla & Tommy had such a relaxed day there in January, a perfect winter wedding!

Describe your wedding in three words

Country, Rustic, Romantic style

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

It was actually the last date available for this winter at Larkspur however it also fell on the weekend which was 6 years since the day we met (Tommy forgot to mention that in his speech!)

Anything about how you met/proposal story

Tommy proposed the week we bought our house and got our 2 kittens, so good things really do come in 3s!
I was already overwhelmed by the move and kittens so it came as a complete surprise when he proposed at the top of the White Nancy in Bollington where we live- one of our favourite places to walk too, all in the same week.

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

The first thing I had my heart set on was my bouquet, I had seen an image a long time a go of a rustic hand tie with a mixture of roses and eucalyptus which my florist beautifully created for the day- we also used a similar selection of flowers for the tables and she created a stunning eucalyptus archway for the church. The church was our local church, we didn’t need to think about picking this- we always knew we wanted to get married there.
As we live in the countryside we were keen to have our reception in barn style venue and Larkspur was perfect with the exposed brick and beams- the lighting there gave it such a romantic feel too.
We picked the colours of our bridesmaid dresses- dusty pink and groomsmen suits- neutral tweed to fit tonally with the brickwork which looked lovely in the pictures. Finally there were quite a few nice gold touches on the plates, candles and table numbers which matched nicely with the bridesmaid sequin dresses.
My dress however.. I knew I always wanted a long sleeve dress but actually my dress was the only thing that didn’t fit so well with the ‘theme’. I went in looking for a bohem style dress and came out with something completely different! Long sleeve, sparkly and backless! but I absolutely loved it so had to change my ‘own rules’ for this!

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

Funny- Tommy wobbling on the kneeler, best mans jokes
Emotional- I found the car journey particularly emotional as it was 40 mins to and from the church so a lot of time to take in what was going on.
Memorable- Tommys aunties singing and my uncles reading in the church.

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

I found you on youtube when looking at larkspur lodge videos, then when I looked at your instagram I knew your style was exactly what we were looking for.

Wedding song?

How Sweet it Is- James Taylor -This was our first dance song, we changed our minds about 5 times and we only picked this 3 days before the wedding as an upbeat song everyone could dance too.

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Don’t stress on the day if anything isn’t right as only you will know and your guests won’t

Are you going on a honeymoon?

yes- we have actually been on 2 as we wanted a hot and cold honeymoon. We spent an unexpected 2 weeks in Mauritius after finding out we had covid the day before we were due to fly home, meaning we had to stay an extra week. And then a weeks skiing.

Anything else….

We were so so happy with how the day went! Its hard to picture everything together when you are planning but it all came together better than expected!
We had so many compliments, but the 3 main things everyone has commented on were, the flowers (loose leaf flowers), the pianist (craig) and of course the photos!
We are so grateful to all our friends and family who came and made the day so special for us.

REVIEW
“We are so so happy with our wedding photos and how perfectly Jess captured our day.
Jess made us feel at ease and relaxed right from when we met her to do the engagement shoot and throughout our wedding day.
The photography was just what we wanted, effortless, laid back and not forced or overly posed.
-We also wanted to mention her husband Chris who did our videography which was equally of a high standard and we are really pleased with.
Jess is a wonderful person and it was so lovely to have her as our photographer, we couldn’t recommend her enough!
