Larkspur Lodge // Ruth & Danny

Larkspur Lodge is a beautiful barn situated close to Knutsford in Cheshire. A countryside wedding venue Larkspur has two reception rooms, one for the civil ceremony and the other set up for the wedding breakfast.

Larkspur Lodge – a stunning wedding barn in rural Cheshire

One of my favourite things about Larkspur Lodge is its location. When you’re at the venue you would be forgiven for thinking you’re in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by fields and farmland. In fact, you’re just a short drive from Knutsford, one of Cheshire’s prettiest market towns. It’s the best of both worlds. The tranquility of the countryside yet not too far from Knutsford which offers plenty of accommodation – from large hotels to smaller, independent B&B’s. It also has great transport links, always a bonus for guests.

REVIEW

“As soon as we came across Jess we knew she was our wedding Photographer! From the first images we saw on her website and her beautiful style, to the the information she gave about herself that made us feel like we knew her already, to her communication into the run up to our day!
On the day Jess was the wedding day companion we both didn’t know we needed, calm, full of smiles and stories to ease our needs and always there at the right moment to capture every moment of our day – even finding the gaps in the rain to make everything happen! She got to know us and knew what we wanted and need more than we did! Thank you Jess for everything you have done for us for our special day, we appreciate everything so much! Ruth & Danny”

Describe your wedding in three words

Smiles, Food, Dancing

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

Monday’s are the wedding equivalent of a bargain!

Anything about how you met/proposal story

We met at Uni in 2012 working on a theatre show together and have been doing life together ever since!
In June 2021 It was Ruth’s 30th birthday and finally all of the covid restrictions had been lifted and you could actually travel! Having been trapped in our one bed flat in Liverpool there were only two things Ruth wanted to do for her birthday: see her best friend Liz (Danny told them he was going to propose and she had heart failure, but managed to keep it a secret!) and go away for a few days for a change of scenery! Danny booked a beautiful air B&B near Aberystwyth with a hot tub, and it had two shetland ponies! The weather of glorious and we spent the weekend hot tubbing and eating great food. On the Saturday we went out for lunch and when we got back we were chilling in the garden when Danny said I’ve got one more surprise for you actually’, he went inside made some bangs and crashes, along with a few swear words to make Ruth come inside and was down on one knee! The birthday weekend away was a ruse for an engagement weekend!!

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

The inspiration for the day was to go with the venue’s natural feel, wild flowers, chilled vibes and having a good time!

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

While getting ready Jenni the make up artist said to Ruth ‘Open’ asking her to open her eyes and Ruth opened her eyes and mouth at the same time as if she was at the dentist!
Managing to get the confetti shot we wanted in between the rain!
Taking a moment to ourselves and realising we were finally here and surrounded by people who love us!
Having been up the lane with Jess to take photos having wash Ruth’s dress in the sink!

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

We discovered Jess when Ruth searched ‘North West Wedding Photographers’ into google. As soon as we clicked on your website and saw your documentary style, filled with smiles, real life moments, and the personalities of your clients shine through, we knew you were the Photographer for us!

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Enjoy it, have the wedding you want, not what others tell you you should have and relish it as its the best and fastest day of your life!

Are you going on a honeymoon?

Yes, we went on a mini moon to Dadlington for a few days, but our real honeymoon is Mexico for Christmas!

Anything else….

Jess, our day would not have be the same or complete without you! You were the wedding day companion we both didn’t know we needed. The photos we have seen are stunning and completely us! You have captured us, the day and our loved ones as exactly as they are and we could not be more greatful!
