Merrydale Manor // Gemma & Lewis

There’s something about this forever changing situation that has brought out the best in people, the resilience, the hope and the positivity. When Gemma and Lewis had their wedding plans turned upside down by a last minute announcement by Boris they made the best of the situation and had the most beautiful 15 person intimate wedding there could be and I was lucky enough to be there to capture it.

Gemma and Lewis wanted to use local suppliers so I was working alongside some of the best including Lucinka Hodnett as the make up artist and Flossie’s for the gorgeous wedding venue styling. Their 2 boys accompanied them in tiny suits just like Lewis and Gemma looked absolutely incredible in her fish tail dress. Although all of their friends and family couldn’t be there (thanks Boris) they added a video to their package and we were able to zoom the whole ceremony so that even though friends and family couldn’t be there physically they could be there in spirit, watching George and Jacob hand over the rings and listening in when Jacob shouted “GIRAFFE” through the ceremony!

Merrydale Manor looked absolutely beautiful, with candles all up the aisle and a white carpet to lead Gemma to Lewis. We were so lucky with the weather and we managed to get some lovely couples portraits with the big red wedding bus and in the grounds of Merrydale.

The speeches were a particularly moving moment and I could just feel the emotion for these two people. I was so happy that they could go ahead and get married and although they’ve had to cancel their Thailand honeymoon for now (a lovely trip to the lakes taking it’s place), I know they’ve had the best start to married life just because of the amount of love in that room when they said “I do.”

If your plans have changed due to Boris and this uncertain time just remember, small intimate weddings can be just as beautiful and special as the big one you planned, in fact sometimes they can be even better!
