Owen House // Laura & Liam

Owen House wedding barn in Cheshire is a beautiful rustic barn with countryside charm and elements of fun! They have a shooting gallery that’s exclusive in the evening for wedding couples and a ceremony room with bench seats and gives a really relaxed vibe.

Describe your wedding in three words
Long awaited!

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

After two COVID related cancellations we were desperate – this date worked well for us as we knew everyone would be off for a nice long weekend!

Anything about how you met/proposal story

Ours is a very modern romance – we met online!
Liam proposed when we were on a short weekend break in the Cotswolds. After dinner we were walking over a small bridge for a chalk stream and he turned around and asked me to marry him.

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

We wanted a relaxed feel that fitted our barn style venue so emphasised the candles and foliage when decorating.
We picked burgundy for the dresses and pocket squares as we thought it would go nicely with the navy suits and the greenery of the foliage.

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

Liam and his best man unintentionally went missing. They had gone to put the bags in the bridal suite and liked the veranda so decided to sit out there before getting ready rather than heading to the groom’s getting ready room. Unbeknownst to me I believe there were people running round looking for them whilst they were having a relaxing beer getting ready in our room!

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

You were the photographer at Liam’s brothers wedding. You were so relaxed with the couple and the photos so beautiful and natural we decided you were the perfect photographer for us. The relaxed style and use of natural light made us sure the photos would be amazing and capture those moments that we won’t want to forget.

Wedding song?

Harvest Moon – Neil Young

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Don’t let other people or tradition dictate what you do for your wedding. Unless it is something that is a legal requirement, if you don’t want to do it then don’t let others persuade you just because that’s what conventionally happens at weddings.

Are you going on a honeymoon?

We are flying to South Africa for a few days in Cape Town, followed by four nights at a game reserve to go on safari and finishing off with a short break in Mauritius before heading home.

Review

Jess thank you so much. Both of us were fairly nervous at being photographed and you really put us at ease – we felt like we had known you for years and had fun getting the photos in different locations around the venue. It was lovely that we were only away from our guests for short amounts of time so we could spend most of the wedding enjoying it with them – thank you!
