Describe your wedding in three words

Bright, Emotional, Meticulous

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

By pure coincidence, we realised the date was Lorna’s grandparent’s 67th wedding anniversary!

Anything about how you met/proposal story

We met at work in 2019 and knew very early on that we were serious about each other. At the end of our second date at Chester Zoo, Connor gave Lorna a book called Lorna Doone. He’d written a message on the first page that explained the name Lorna was first used 150 years ago and appeared for the first time on page 51. Five years later, without Lorna knowing, Connor replaced the original book on the bookshelf with a decoy version while he turned it into a ring box that opened to page 51 – the page he used to propose with.

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

We love the colourful warm autumn tones at this time of year and wanted to bring these into our big day as much as we could. The colours also tied in really nicely with another important element which was Lorna’s grandad’s tartan who is sadly no longer with us.
We really wanted the day to feel special for all of our guests and so it was important to us that it was a nice relaxed day where everyone could have fun together and celebrate. We made little gift bags for the kids so they felt included and all of our guests chose music for the evening.

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

There are so many incredible memories from the day. Our most favourite has to be being in the ceremony surrounded by so many of our family and friends. Lorna’s Aunt and Connor’s Uncle gave lovely readings and there were plenty of giggles when the rings didn’t go on straightaway. We were struck by how wonderful and colourful the room and the view were – our guests in their lovely outfits, the beautiful flowers and the incredible blue skies that no one could have predicted!
Lorna’s grandma was unfortunately ill and unable to travel for the wedding, however FaceTime came to the rescue with a phone hidden discretely in the corner. Just before the ceremony ended, our fantastic Registrar asked everyone to give her a wave before we left. We already loved the ceremony, but this gave it an added extra family feel.

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

We came across your instagram page as we were searching for wedding photographers. We’d had a lot of recommendations for most suppliers, but we started from scratch with a photographer. We looked through the example albums on your webpage and really loved the style of photos. They seemed to capture the joy of the day perfectly and didn’t feel too formal in any way. The relaxed enjoyable atmosphere was really important to us for the big day, so we decided it was the perfect choice!

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Be organised as early on as possible so you can enjoy the build up to the wedding more!

Are you going on a honeymoon?

We enjoyed a nice relaxing few days away after the wedding and will be heading off to New York later this year.

Anything else….

From the previews alone, you captured the most brilliant memories for us and we can’t believe how quickly you sent them through! You were so calm and lovely to be around on the day which meant we could just enjoy it all. The moments when it was just you around felt like peaceful checkpoints throughout the day. We both felt so relaxed and enjoyed sneaking off to have photos taken. We honestly can’t thank you enough!
