Sandhole Oak Barn Cheshire // Faye & Oliver

Sandhole Oak Barn Cheshire – Cheshire wedding venue

Describe your wedding in three words

Perfect, magical, relaxed

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

It was one of the few Saturdays left in 2022! (who wants a summer wedding anyway!)

Anything about how you met/proposal story

We met on Tinder back in early 2016 and just clicked. After a year and a half of dating down in Leamington Spa, job moves meant we decided to take the plunge, relocate to Cheshire and move in together, which turned out to be the best decision! Then in July 2021, Ollie proposed down in New Quay, Wales – a special place for both of us as Ollie’s parents have a holiday home there, we’ve had so many happy weekends and mini-breaks exploring the Ceredigion bay and paddle boarding in the sea, and now it will always be our happy place.

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

We just wanted it to be fun and relaxed for everyone, with lots of good food, nice drinks, music and dancing. We wanted a wedding that we’d be able to enjoy ourselves and not feel stressed about, that we’d be able to look back on and feel like we really made the most out of. A wedding is one of the only times in your life where everyone you love is in the same room which is pretty special in our view!

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

The Folly Brothers performing an unplugged, bluegrass performance of Elbow’s “One Day Like This” – hearing all of our guests singing along to the chorus on the dancefloor was a gorgeous moment.

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

We knew we wanted our wedding photography to be natural, relaxed and candid – we didn’t want too many traditional, formal shots. After having a little look online we realised Jess was exactly what we were looking for, we just loved her style and her friendly, relaxed attitude and knew she’d be the perfect fit for our wedding.

Wedding song?

Ho Hey – The Lumineers

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Try not to get too caught up on the little details and just enjoy the whole experience!

Are you going on a honeymoon?

We went on a gorgeous minimoon to The Tawny in Staffordshire for a few days after the wedding which was just the ticket after a busy few days! It was the perfect place to relax, unwind and chat non-stop about how amazing the big day had been! Next spring we’re hoping to go to Japan and spend two weeks exploring the country – just need to get it booked now!

Anything else….

Thank you so much Jess for all of your work on the day and for being our photographer – you helped make the day so special and perfect! xx
