Sandhole Oak Barn // Clare & Colin

Clare and Colin were married in March at lovely Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire, near Congleton. These two are so adorable, with a lovely gentle nature to them, a perfect match and on the day, well, Colin was totally hilarious!

I often ask the groom to make himself useful on the day and just help with some cool dress shots. At one point I asked Colin to fan Clare’s dress and he stood there just waving her dress (his version of fanning it!) I was in stitches. Not quite the movement we’d been after to get a floaty dress shot, but a very funny moment instead. Also how gorgeous is Clare’s dress, she looked so beautiful.

When I first met Clare and Colin to chat through their plans for the big day at Sandhole Oak Barn, they explained they just wanted a really amazing, fun and relaxed feel for the day. I think they achieved just that as it really was a lovely chilled out and relaxed wedding. It was a little bit on the cold side even for March in Cheshire. We were grateful for no snow though as there’s been plenty of that this year!

Clare and Colin found me on google search;

Based on the example photos on your website, we both loved the relaxed style of photography and in particular how you seemed to photograph people really well and capture the emotions (and happiness!) of the day. We arranged to meet up with you before deciding and as soon as we met you we knew that you were the right choice.

I was so happy when they booked as I knew we were a great fit, I love to photograph the real moments of the day as well as all the details too. I also really enjoy shooting at  Sandhole Oak Barn, so was really excited to photograph their big day.

Clare and Colin worked at the same company but in different offices (Clare in Manchester and Colin in Leeds) and had spoken on the phone a few times. They finally met in 2010 when the Leeds office took part in Sports Relief and Clare travelled over to help out with taking donations over the phone;

After a lot of travelling between Leeds and Manchester over the next year or so, Colin decided to move to Manchester and we rented for 5 years in the city centre. In 2016, we bought our first house and as we were celebrating our first Christmas in the new house Colin proposed!

When we chose the wedding date, because we just fell in love with Sandhole Oak Barn we worked around their availability. We did not want a long engagement, having been together for 8 years, so settled on a Friday in March 2018, rather than waiting for the first available Saturday at the end of 2019.

 On the day their gorgeous rustic vision came to life;

Using the venue Sandhole Oak Barn as our inspiration, we wanted a warm, rustic feel with hessian bunting, mason jars and wood slices. It was am amazing day, just seeing all our family and friends together in one place, all enjoying themselves, is what we enjoyed most about the day.

Congratulations again to Clare and Colin, the new Mr and Mrs Yardley, what an utter joy your day was, so full of laughter and love. I hope you have an amazing honeymoon at the end of May, I’m very jealous! They are driving from San Francisco to LA, stopping at Yosemite National Park, Monterey and Santa Barbara on the way, and then on to Hawaii!
