Styal Lodge // Shauna & Nancy

Styal Lodge

Describe your wedding in three words

One big party!

Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)

It was two years following our engagement and we wanted a summer wedding!

Anything about how you met/proposal story

We met at work and started meeting up outside of work together, our first proper date was at a lovely Thai restaurant. We moved in together 6 months later!
Nancy proposed during the first lockdown, we were meant to book a last minute holiday but due to Covid we stayed home. We were both working through lockdown and decided to have an at home date night. We got dressed up, lit some candles, picked up a TGI’s and Nancy got down on one knee. It was perfect!

Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day

The venue was beautiful anyway and the gardens were full of greenery, so we wanted to be natural and have some foliage and white flowers.
We wanted a huge party and for everyone to have fun and make memories.

Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day

There was a few, but straight after saying our vows we were in the garden having a cocktail together just us and our four year old niece came running after us. She had a mock tail and we had a cheers between us and it felt like a very quiet but special moment.

The moment we knew it was going to be a party was when we got introduced as mrs and mrs, we walked into the wedding breakfast to ‘I’m
Coming Out’ and everyone was up clapping and singing. Nancys sister had a pride flag and we just knew it was going to be a huge party.

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

We really wanted a photographer that was very in the moment, natural shots. We didn’t want to miss spending time with our friends and family, so we only wanted a couple of family or group staged shots.
Jess was just perfect for this. We loved having Jess she was everything we wanted and more. She was so helpful on the day as well, even when Shauna had left her wedding shoes in the car 5 minutes before she was due to walk down the aisle, Jess sorted it out for us!

Wedding song?

We walked down the isle to Harry Styles Girl Crush and walked back to Tom Odell grow old with me

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Don’t feel obligated to do anything, it’s your day do what youre comfortable with. We didn’t cut the cake or have a first dance because we just wanted to have a party!

Are you going on a honeymoon?

We went to Florida for two weeks!
