The Ashes Barn // Katie & James

I’ve known James a long time and he’s often accompanied me to my weddings as my trusty second photographer, so it was my absolute privilege to be invited to capture the day he married his love Katie at The Ashes Wedding Barn in the Peak District.

The day was so chilled and relaxed and Katie looked utterly beautiful in her incredible dress as she walked up the aisle to meet a nervous looking James. They said their vows in front of an amazing floral backdrop, which complimented the exposed brick and high ceilings of The Ashes Wedding Barn giving their pink and copper colour scheme the perfect rustic touch.

For the wedding breakfast baby blue and pink bunting, lovingly made by the mother of the bride hung from the balcony of the barn. Tall florals on the tables made the room into a botanical dream and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when James took to the microphone for his speech. Guests in assorted superhero aprons were in charge of carving the meat, which was a funny touch. I always get well fed by my amazing couples but I thoroughly enjoyed sitting at a guest table for once, surrounded by friends!

The Ashes Wedding Barn is a gorgeous place to get married with its lush outdoor area and the weather didn’t disappoint, letting us roam the beautiful gardens of the Grade II Listed Country House and get some amazing golden hour portraits in the wheat field.

James and Katie had added on a hightlight film to their package so it was brilliant to see James had taken dancing lessons for their first dance to Nathan Skyes ‘Over and over again’ which they’ll be able to relive over and over when they watch their wedding film. Thank you for letting me capture your big day at The Ashes James and Katie. It really was a special one.
