Describe your wedding in three words
Why you chose the date of wedding (did it have any meaning?)
Anything about how you met/proposal story
We met aged 15, in 2006, at high school when Ben sat behind me in business studies. Ben would bother me with this metre long ruler that just about reached from his desk to my chair – much to my happiness as I fancied the teenage pants of him!
We started walking home from school together and eventually Ben asked me to be his girlfriend. Our favourite place for a date was down by the river in Chester. We would wonder along the river Dee where we would watch the world go by, dance in the band stand, feed the ducks and go on the pedalow boats up the river together.
Fast forward 15 years and we have grown together, we are best friends who do everything as a team. We moved in together in 2016 and bought our first home in 2019.
Straight away we adopted two kittens who are our furbabies (and a huge part of our lives!)
On a Sunday in December 2019, we went for a walk around our favourite spot, along the river.
We went up onto the bridge that crosses the River Dee where Ben got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I jumped up and down, cried a little and very happily accepted his proposal over the place we had been on dates 15 years ago.
Skip the pandemic, and to the 31st March 2022. With months of hard work and planning, it was time for our wedding day
Your inspiration/style/aspirations for the day
Memorable/emotional/funny moment on the day
Wow. There are so many!
The weather!!! It snowed, then was sunny, then snowed again! Jess was in her element capturing all of the different lights! We love the snow too so it was totally perfect!
I did a “dress reveal” for my bridesmaids and it was so much fun. I loved it! The girls were the perfect bridesmaids. One of my bridesmaids and her son (who was the second page boy) couldn’t come on the day due to Covid
Our amazing wedding coordinator streamed the ceremony to the 4 guests who couldn’t attend last minute due to Covid (we were so gutted!) but Emily made sure that they were included.
Having all of our nearest and dearest with us will be a memory we will all share forever.
Other memories include Rowan and our brother in law, Chris, ringing the bell at the end of the ceremony to announce us as husband and wife!
Walking in to the ballroom for our wedding breakfast to Ellie Goulding’s “Love me like you do” was so empowering!!
In the evening it was snowing and we struggled to get guests outside (understandably) for our sparkler shot. Jess suggested just the two of us do the shot so out we went and I plonked my dress down into the puddles and had the best time!! I remember wet floor signs following me when I came back inside as I think I brought half of the puddles back in with me!
There is a clip of my nephew Rowan, our Page boy, dancing with Mila, our flower girl, and it is the cutest thing we have ever seen!
Our first dance was magical. We had sneakily learnt a routine and practiced it countless times before the big day. This was a lovely experience for us and we learnt so much from it!
The dance on the night was perfect and our guests loved it!!! We had so many comments on how it was the best first dance many of them had ever seen at a wedding!
There are so many more I could go on forever!
9 weeks on we are still in our wedding bubble and it is truly wonderful.
How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day
Jess photographed Hannah’s sisters, beautiful wedding and we knew from the moment that we got in contact with Jess that she was for us.
We LOVE her style and she is such an amazing person inside and out. We had an engagement shoot with her in Chester by the river where Ben had proposed. Ben was a natural in-front of the camera, I wasn’t, but Jess made me feel right at ease and we had a blast!
On our wedding day Jess made everything easy and the day ran smoothly. Her and Chris were so organised and it ran without a hitch.
Wedding song?
Any advice for couples planning their wedding?
Are you going on a honeymoon?
What a question We we’re due to fly to Barbados, for a 14 night cruise around the Carribean, 3 days after our wedding day however we failed the preflight PCR for Covid so weren’t allowed to travel! We can laugh about it now, if we don’t we will cry!
Once we were both negative and feeling better, we went on a UK adventure exploring all the places we have wanted to visit, including Edinburgh Zoo to see the Pandas, a luxurious spa day in the Lake District and a boutique bothie in Aberdeen that was completely wood fired. Throw in some whiskey distilleries and some lambing too. We had a magical time and made memories that we wouldn’t have made had we not had the honeymoon mishap!
Anything else….
Thank you so Jess and to Chris. Like, a HUGE thank you. We felt totally relaxed knowing you were taking care of everything around us and we barely noticed you were there on the day. Nothing was too much trouble and we didn’t have to lift a finger on the day – you were so so organised. We have had our wedding pictures back and our highlight film. Wow. I have cried every time I’ve watched our highlight film and the pictures capture our day perfectly! Thank you for capturing the most perfect day of our lives in the most beautiful way.
Our wedding day was phenomenal, the best day of our lives. We’ve dreamt of our wedding for all of those years that we grew together and our wedding day was the day that those dreams actually came true, a true fairytale.
Lots of Love,
Hannah & Ben Wilson!
