Wedding Photography Cheshire // Steph & Jai

I absolutely loved capturing Steph & Jai’s wedding at the Roman City of Chester in Cheshire. Their day was planned beautifully and so unique to them, chilled and memorable. I met Steph and her friends at a local hotel in the city centre for preperations in the afternoon. Makeup artist Grace did an amazing job, keeping everyone calm and relaxed. Jai then came to the hotel to do a first look with Steph, they then had a wander together through the city walls for relaxed couple portraits. We (the three of us!) then headed down the river on the boat – The Jackie! to the restaurant Et Alia. Their guests all spread out over the banks of the river, welcoming the couple ready for their civil ceremony. Together, they walked down the aisle – a truly special moment to capture.

They married in the stunning glass room surrounded by family and friends. Once married they headed outside for drinks and canapes on the lawn, a few family portraits and then back inside for the meal. They danced the night away with their guests to the SUPERfreak band who I’d highly recommend. Check them out! All of the suppliers below were amazing and I would recommend.

They chose the date 13.09.2019 as this is the ten year anniversary of them getting together. Yes it was Friday 13th but that didn’t matter, to be able to mark their ten year anniversary with the marriage.

Steph said “Our proposal was a very unplanned and relaxed affair – we were talking about if and when with a friend over beers on Coast to Coast in Chester on a rainy January evening in 2016 and we agreed to go for it with a handshake haha!.  We actually met 3 years before we got together at home in Cumbria. We both moved to Chester separately and I guess our fates collided – perhaps with a little help from Jai sticking a kiss on me!”

The day was to be all about the food, drink, music and fun times with family and friends. Very relaxed and stripping it right back from the usual wedding format that seems to be the norm these days.

I asked them what their most funny & memorable part of the day was;

“Funny moment – as we waited upstairs for the guests to be seated for the ceremony, the bar man handed us shots of Sambuca (Steph) and Tequila (Jai) for Dutch courage – which whilst not needed was good fun!”

Memorable – arriving by boat to all of our guests greeting us was amazing, was a bit different and totally set to vibe for the day, just perfect.

How did you discover me and why you chose me to photograph the day

You were recommended by a friend who is also a photographer – she said you’d be right up our street and she was not wrong! We checked you out online and luckily with only 6 months notice you were free – probably because it was Friday 13th which most other couples would avoid! It was meant to be!

Youu were awesome, cannot thank you or recommend you highly enough, you totally accommodated our unconventional approach to the day without hesitation. You made it feel easy and breezy which is exactly what we wanted THANK YOU!!!! xx

I am a Cheshire wedding photographer covering your photography all over the UK. If you are planning something unique and special to you, I would love to hear from you.
